12U Rich and 14U Lantz play eachother and one ends up tourny champ

Two PNW Force teams were in action at the USSSA Shamrock Showdown in Chehalis at Recreation Park. Rich 12U and Lantz 14U both competed in the 14U division of the tournament. The weather made each game very challenging, with temperatures in the 30s, mixed with rain, snow, and occasionally some sunshine.

Lantz 14U started the tournament off strong by beating Venom 5-4. There second game was against Rich 12U and it was an instant classic. Rich started the scoring off with a sac fly in the first, and added to the lead with an RBI in the 3rd. But a big 4th inning that included a triple, 2 doubles and a single, saw Lantz take the lead 5-2. Going into the bottom of the 5th, Rich led off with a triple but Lantz quickly recorded 2 outs. Rich loaded up the bases after a couple free passes, then singled to clear them up and tie the game! A ground out ended the rally, and ended the game in a 5-5 tie. Lantz went on to the silver bracket where they fell in a rematch with Venom who were the eventual silver bracket champions.

After the emotional first game against their fellow Force team, Rich turned up the heat and run ruled their next opponent, and then won a nail biter 5-4 with a walk-off walk, to finish pool play 2-0-1. On Sunday, they cruised by their first opponent 10-6, to set up a showdown between the only two 12U teams in the 14U tournament. After trailing 4-2 after the first inning, Force blew the doors off and scored 11 in the 2nd inning. They held on to win 15-6, and were the Gold Bracket Tournament Champions!
