Every year the Spring season ramps up and all Force teams have been grinding all winter and early spring for this time of year. PNW Force teams have competed in USA Softball and USSSA sanctioned events this Spring. Meyers 10A completed in the Elite Eruption tournament in Longview, WA and came back with the championship, going 4-0.
The PNW Border Battle tournament took place at the end of May. All seven PNW Force teams played in this tournament. Force Naval 10U went 2-3 and lost in the semifinals. Meyers and Birklid both played in the 12B division, Meyers playing up from 10U. Both teams ended up in the lower gold bracket after going 1-2 in pool play. They met in bracket play and Birklid came away with the win. Their day ended in the following round. PNW Force Rich competed in the 12A division, also ending up in the lower gold bracket where they lost in the second round to the eventual bracket champs. Gaul 14U played some very exciting games and ended the tournament with a 1-3 record. BTS 16U and JTS 18U both played in the 16/18U division and saw each other in the first round of bracket play. 16U came away with the victory and made it to the championship. They ended the day as runner up.
At the USSSA State championships, PNW Force Naval 10U and Birklid 12U competed for the state title. In the double elimination tournament, Birklid was forced to play 4 games on Saturday and ended the tournament at 2-2. In the 10U division, Force Naval stepped up in the 10U division when they beat a tough team on both Saturday and Sunday, before getting rained out. The tournament concluded that Force Naval earned a 3rd place plaque for USSSA State.
At the USA Softball Metro State Championships, Meyers 10A, Naval 10U and Rich 12A competed for the trophy. Meyers rolled through the first few games, including beating a team on Saturday, that they ended up losing to in the state championship to end as runner up. Naval 10U won their first 2 games on Saturday to earn a bye on Sunday. They drew a tough game in the first round and also lost to the 10U state champs. Rich 12A had a rough Saturday going 0-2 but came back with a vengeance on Sunday winning their first 2 games. They ran out of steam and ended up losing in the semifinals.
PNW Force 18U also played that weekend, and had a great weekend going 4-1.
